Alexandria, VA – October 12, 2005 – After Government-required testing and auditing, Rannoch Corporation has been approved as a “Class I” user of the FAA’s Enhanced Traffic Management System Aircraft Situation Display to Industry. A Class I user is a professional aviation organization that has requirements and responsibilities for tracking aircraft in real time. As of late 2005, there are approximately 20 organizations operating as Class I users and resellers of FAA aircraft tracking data. Class I users now have access to the newly available Surface Movement Advisor (SMA) data, which includes TRACON radar data for approximately a dozen large airports in the U.S. The difference between Class I and Class II users is twofold; Class I is near real time and includes the SMA data, while Class II is delayed at least 5 minutes and does not include the additional SMA data fields.

The DOT data feed is used on a case-by-case approved basis as one source of information in Rannoch’s patented AirScene multilateration and ADS-B aircraft flight tracking system. AirScene provides comprehensive airport and airline management applications as well as air traffic control applications. Rannoch included the new data feed in response to ever increasing needs of clients for comprehensive, real time, accurate airport management solutions. For example, the integrated data sources from the AirScene system uniquely provide full real-time coverage and aircraft identification by tail number.

“We are pleased to join this exclusive club of audited and approved vendors of real-time aircraft tracking,” stated Robert Blair, Rannoch’s Commercial Sales Manager. “AirScene provides an unprecedented level of aircraft fidelity, in the en route, terminal, and surface areas, and the addition of Class I DOT data will provide useful data fields as part of our scalable solution. Although the SMA data feed provides additional information; that data is still limited in scope, and clients will need to opt for a more comprehensive AirScene multilateration solution in order to perform more sophisticated applications, such as gate and ramp management,” added Blair.

Rannoch’s AirScene technologies include multilateration for en route, terminal area, and wide area tracking, ADS-B, Traffic Information Services Broadcast (TIS-B), and airport enterprise management systems. The company has over 20 patents issued and pending, covering many aspects of flight tracking, vehicle monitoring, reporting, and target processing technologies. Due to patented architectural features, Rannoch’s multilateration tracking technologies are capable of providing more extensive real-time wide area coverage than any other multilateration system.
