Alexandria, VA – February 20, 2006 – USA airport customers of the alliance between Rannoch Corporation of USA and Brüel & Kjær (B&K) of Denmark have long benefited from comprehensive, accurate, independent and flexible flight tracking information as part of their airport noise management programmes.

The two companies, who between them were awarded almost every new airport noise management system contract in world last year, are now pleased to announce that Rannoch’s AirScene multilateration flight tracking technology is now available in Europe and may be deployed on either a capital or service basis and acquired directly from either Rannoch or from B&K. Some 20 airports in the USA and Japan have implemented Rannoch’s AirScene multilateration technology in support of noise management applications providing flight track information which is:

• more accurate and detailed than can be derived from radar, providing better noise correlation and more accurate modelling data;

• specifically designed to provide the required coverage of the airport area, filling in any gaps in radar coverage and providing data right down to the airport surface;

• complete with aircraft Mode S registration codes to improve plan correlation and support operations functions such as billing and gate management;

• independent of usage restrictions that may be imposed by radar data providers.

Lars Winberg, Sales and Marketing Manager for B&K, said, “We are delighted to be able to add this proven technology to the services that we offer our customers who are seeking the most comprehensive noise management solutions. We are already in discussions about a number of potential projects and we hope to deploy the first systems within the next few months.”

Tom Breen, Rannoch’s Manager of Airport Systems, added, “In the USA we have seen a variety of offerings aimed at addressing shortfalls in the quality and extent of flight track information, and customers have had to be careful to avoid being left with ineffective, obsolete or even failed technologies.”

“A significant factor in our success in the last few years has been the result of customers choosing well proven solutions ahead of marketing promises from unproven partnerships,” added Breen.

Potential European customers of the AirScene tracking solution will benefit from long experience derived from existing AirScene flight tracking customers, including Calgary and Springbank airports in Canada, Tokyo and Nagoya airports in Japan, customers in Egypt, Taiwan, New Zealand and Mongolia and a long list of US airports including Providence, Louisville, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Raleigh Durham, East Hampton, Boston, Hyannis, and Ohio.

The AirScene flight tracking system, which is also proven in Air Traffic Control applications around the globe, can be fully integrated into B&K’s airport noise management systems to provide extremely accurate flight tracks from the airport surface and out to 100km and beyond. The technology, which is surprisingly cost effective, can be delivered as part of a new system project or easily added to an existing installation. To minimize large up-front expenditure, the system can also be provided as an additional element to an existing B&K or Rannoch maintenance contract.
