The solution utilizes both Era’s MSS surveillance ground stations and Squid vehicle tracking units for complete ground surveillance. This project is being overseen by AMP Corporation SDN BHD (AMCOP) of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and involves upgrading several core systems currently in operation at the airport. Airport officials sought out a new system in response to the construction of a new low cost airline terminal (LCAT) and the overall expansion and growth of this world class airport facility. Era’s solution will be fully integrated with an updated A-SMGCS-ready system from Park Air Systems. The new surveillance platform will use strategically placed MSS by Era sensors and will provide extended coverage of runways, taxiways and aprons, improved automation of aircraft identification and better surveillance in all weather conditions, including heavy rain. The solution also utilizes 100 of Era’s proven Squid ADS-B vehicle transponders, which will allow ground vehicles to be managed using the same displays and alerts as aircraft. Coverage of the system has been designed to extend well beyond the airport surface to enable monitoring of the approach areas as well, providing flexibility for future parallel runway monitoring. “Era is particularly pleased to be working with Ministry of Transport, AMCOP, Park Air Systems, DCA and KLIA Consult on this project, which, following on from our contracts in Singapore and Beijing, continues a strong regional interest in Era technologies,” said Russell Hulstrom, Vice President of Sales for Era Corporation. “The Asia-Pacific region, and Malaysia in particular, continues to show tremendous growth and vitality, and we look forward to a long partnership with AMCOP in providing state-of-the-art technology and services to support this growth.” |
